About 20 percent of the Austrian population is disabled according to 3§ BGStG. The percentage of people in need of support is much higher and is constantly increasing due to demographic developments. Thus, the topic of accessibility will become increasingly important in the future. Together with the “Hilfsgemeinschaft der Blinden und Sehschwachen Österreichs” the e-paper of next:urban was developed barrier-free and a special visually impaired mode.
What does the E-Paper from next:urban do in the field of accessibility:
- Haptically perceptible button (no touch sensor)
- Height of operation => wheelchair accessible
- Standard-compliant display height
- Contrast enables high readability for visually impaired people
- Text to Speech function
- The visually impaired mode thus corresponds to the “2 sensory principle”
Functionality:
- Activate the visually impaired mode by holding down the button for a long time
- The E-Paper switches the real-time in visually impaired mode
- At the same time, the next departures are issued via Text_2_Speech
